HELPING TO IMPROVE BUSINESS RESILIENCE
Recovery depends on businesses getting through the effects of a disaster. Continued business operations support recovery by continuing to employ staff and providing goods and services in the recovery effort. This keeps people employed and money flowing. It helps establish a sense of normality, hope and confidence within the community.
We believe that the business community’s first and most important contribution to recovery is getting back on its feet and continuing to trade.
Through this project we want to identify and champion simple and practical ways to improve how the business community ensures its own preparedness and resilience, and that of the communities it is part of.
To do this we will look at the recovery to date and identify: what went well and what didn’t; what helped and what got in the way; what should be improved; and what else could be tried.
We are particularly interested in:
- Business preparedness for disasters
- Business agility in responding and getting through
- Business contribution to the resilience of communities
